As SIHA Network actively works to facilitate and enable women street vendors in Uganda to leverage the cooperative advantage for their economic empowerment, we would like to congratulate the first women street vendors’ cooperative formed, registered and legislated under the Ministry of Trade, Labor and Cooperatives.
Over the years, SIHA has developed deep and unique expertise in supporting women in the informal sector across its network. Subsequently, SIHA continues to support these women who are viewed as “Invisible Laborers”, to know and claim their rights.
Through our advocacy-centered work in the region, SIHA continues to use its position as an international actor to advocate for the safety and protection of women working in these sectors, including, and not limited to street vendors, petty traders, domestic workers, and alcohol brewers.
