As observed and revealed by SIHA’s research and countless testimonials, the mixed migration of women and girls has strong links to their subordination and vulnerabilities not limited to sexual and gender-based violence on their respective journeys. As part of its analyses on women and girls on the move in the Greater Horn of Africa, SIHA explores the push and pull factors whilst digging deeper into the contributing factors that elevate the experiences of these women and girls along very complex routes.

SIHA advocates for the protection of migrant workers and improvement of social and economic conditions of women and girls in host communities, including the right to work free from all forms of exploitation across the region. SIHA carries out programming focused on providing support and services to victims of trafficking, exploitation and returning migrants by facilitating their recovery from trauma and reintegration into their communities of origin, where possible.
