On 8th March 2013, Somalia Women Development Center (SWDC) also SIHA member together with Ministry of Human Development and Public Services organised events to commemorate the IWD. This year in Somalia, the priority theme was “A promise is a promise: A time for action to end violence against women”
The event that was celebrated at the famous Sayidka monument arena brought together more than 1000 women from the 5 districts of Benadir region. At the celebrations, there were performances of Folklore dances, songs, poems, and other cultural activities. It was the largest gathering ever since the collapse of the central government.
