There have been attacks on women peacefully protesting in Khartoum during the #SudanWomenProtest march from the Ministry of Justice to the Ministry of the Interior and Office of the Attorney General. As the protestors marched, chanting, “Hey girls, stay still. This revolution is a girls’ revolution”, one man attempted to mow the protestors down with his car (the car did not have a number plate). One woman was taken to hospital, but there are no further reports yet of other major injuries. Other men came out of their cars to physically assault the protestors. One student has said that she was punched and that her attacker threatened to rape her. Several of the protestors have already gone to the local police station to make formal reports of these incidents, 8 of which have already been recorded. The driver has been arrested, but it is unclear whether the other attackers have been apprehended.
The march that has pulled thousands of women together to protest against militarization, pervasive injustice against women and girls, gendered killings, and the normalization of sexual violence as the result of severe discriminatory laws that are still in effect in Sudan despite the fall of the ex-regime of Al-Bashir and his militant Islamists. Building on the #SudanWomenProtest initiative, which was created by a coalition of women’s rights groups and activists that started in May 2019, today’s march was organised and led by women. A little less than two years after the December Revolution, women are still facing extreme levels of misogyny and violence in the same streets that they helped to liberate in 2019.
Sudan has yet to sign and ratify the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (Maputo Protocol), and remains one of only two countries in Africa that has not signed and ratified the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) among other regional and international human rights conventions.
As SIHA Network, we condemn this violence and expect the Sudanese Transitional Government to take immediate action and recourse to ensure that the attackers are held accountable by full force of the law. We also urge the Transitional Government to reform the laws and structures that have created an enabling environment for gender-based discrimination and violence against women and girls.

الرجاء الإنتباه!!
عنف وظواهر كراهية ضد المتظاهرات السلميات في الخرطوم
الخرطوم – 8 أبريل، 2021م
حدثت اليوم اعتداءات على مجموعة من النساء والفتيات اللاتي خرجن في موكب سلمي من أمام وزارة العدل متوجهات إلى وزارة الداخلية ومكتب النائب العام. حينها، قام رجل بصدم المتظاهرات بسيارته (بوكس دون لوحات) أمام مبنى السلطة القضائية في الخرطوم، ونُقلت على إثر ذلك سيدة إلى المستشفى، لكن لم ترد تقارير حتى الآن عن أي إصابات خطيرة أخرى. وفي موقف آخر، قام عدة رجال بالنزول من سياراتهم والاعتداء جسدياً على المتظاهرات. قالت طالبة إنها تعرضت للّكم وأن مهاجمها هددها بالاغتصاب. ذهبت العديد من المتظاهرات والمتظاهرين إلى مركز شرطة القسم الشمالي – الخرطوم، لتقديم تقارير رسمية عن هذه الحوادث. حتى الآن سجلت 8 بلاغات كما تم القبض على سائق العربة البوكس، لكن من غير الواضح ما إذا كان قد تم القبض على المعتدين الآخرين.
الموكب الذي جمع الآلاف من النساء للاحتجاج على العسكرة وتفشي الظلم والعنف الجنسي، وانعدام المحاسبية في جرائم النساء والفتيات، إضافةً إلى ظهور جرائم قتل النساء واهمال الحكومة لحقوق المرأة. يحدث كل ذلك نتيجة القوانين التمييزية الجائرة التي لا تزال سارية في السودان، على الرغم من سقوط نظام البشير وضُغمة الإسلاميون. وقد قام الموكب على خلفية مبادرة من تحالف #الموكب_النسوي، الذي أنشأته مجموعات ومنظمات عاملة بمجال حقوق المرأة في مايو 2019. وقد قاد تحالف الموكب النسوي عدة تظاهرات كلها تدعو إلى اصلاح المنظومة العدلية السودانية وسيادة المحاسبية وحكم القانون. ورغم ذلك، لا تزال النساء يواجهن مستويات قصوى من الكراهية والعنف في نفس الشوارع التي ساعدن على تحريرها في عام 2019.
ورغم مرور أكثر من عامين علي الثورة السودانية لايزال السودان اسيراً للنظام البائد، حيث لم يتم التوقيع حتى الآن على البروتوكول الأفريقي لحقوق المراة، ولا يزال السودان واحداً من دولتين فقط في إفريقيا لم توقعا وتصادقا على اتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة (سيداو – CEDAW).
نحن في صيحة، بصفتنا شبكة لمناصرة حقوق النساء والفتيات في القرن الأفريقي، وأعضاء في الموكب النسوي، ندين ونستنكر بشدة هذا العنف الذى ينافي قيم وشعارات الثورة السودانية. ونرى أن مثل هذا العنف هو جزء من سلسلة من الجرائم التي تسود دون محاسبيىة فى مدن السودان المختلفة. ونظل نشجب صمت المسؤولين في السودان تجاة الانتهاكات التي تلحق بالنساء والفتيات. ونتوقع من الحكومة الانتقالية السودانية اتخاذ إجراءات فورية، واللجوء لضمان محاسبة المعتدين وفق القانون. كما نحث الحكومة الانتقالية على إصلاح القوانين والهياكل التي أوجدت بيئة مواتية للتمييز القائم على النوع والعنف ضد النساء والفتيات.
