Consultancy: Facilitator for conducting Capacity-building
Location: Kampala and Arua, Uganda.
Duration: 1 month including preparation, training, post-training follow-up and report writing
Background
The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) is a regional network of over 150 civil society organizations across Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia. SIHA promotes gender justice by addressing violence, exclusion, and limited access to services for women and girls in the Greater Horn of Africa. The current project strengthens feminist movements to counter backlash, advocate for gender justice, and enhance the capacity of women’s rights organization. More information about SIHA is available at www.sihanet.org
An Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) conducted in December 2024 identified strengths and challenges among SIHA member organizations in Uganda. Women’s rights organizations (WROs) and grassroots women advocates play a vital role in advancing gender equality and social justice. However, they still experience challenges in systematically tracking and measuring the impact of their advocacy efforts. A well-structured Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) training will equip WROs with the necessary skills to design measurable interventions, assess progress, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders, including donors and beneficiaries. Advocacy requires strong evidence to influence policies and drive change, yet many grassroots organizations lack technical expertise in data collection, analysis, and utilization. This training will address these gaps, enhancing participants’ ability to collect, analyze, and apply data to strengthen their advocacy strategies.
Additionally, the training will foster knowledge-sharing networks, enabling organizations to document best practices, share lessons learned, and refine strategies collaboratively, ultimately strengthening the women’s rights movement in Uganda.
