The current conflict in Sudan, which started on the 15th of April and has claimed over 4,000 lives, and has been characterized by high rates of SGBV, has also created a severe scarcity of menstrual products throughout the country
Women and girls who have been displaced to other neighbourhoods, cities and states are usually forced to leave under gunfire and threats of sexual violence without carrying necessary dignity kits including menstrual hygiene products. The route and destination for many can be unknown and as families flee the war in fear for their lives. Under these circumstances, finding menstrual products for women and girls is not considered a priority.
Where menstrual products are available, unbridled inflation has led to prices that are far too high for most women and girls to afford, particularly as families are struggling to access enough food and clean water. This situation of utter scarcity of menstrual products, raises women and girls’ likelihood of developing infections, which are more likely to become life threatening given the lack of access to clean water and medical services. These risks are even higher in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.
The absence of these products necessarily creates an inability for women and girls to resume normal daily activities even if they relocate to other safer spaces. The emotional and physical stress continues to affect their psychological state and well-being.
There is a specific need for disposable menstrual products as reusable menstrual hygiene products like washable pads cannot be safely used because most women and girls do not have regular access to clean water and soap.
SIHA Network will partner with the PNDS (Fawta Tsed Alkhana – Pad Needed, Dignity Seeded) Initiative and Sustainable Development Response Organization (SUDRO) on a campaign to collective donations and use them to buy and distribute the crucial menstrual dignity kit items Sudanese women and girls desperately need right now.
Through providing menstrual products, the risk on women and girls’ health can be decreased and their well-being can be improved.
How your Donation will be Used
- Purchase of underwear & menstrual hygiene products for dignity kits.
- Distribution of these dignity kits in cooperation with grassroots associations, mobile clinics, and health centres to shelters and women and girls affected by the war.
- Minimum donation $10 – the approximate price of a woman’s menstrual needs for one month
- If you want to donate menstrual products directly, payment of transport costs will be required
Why disposable menstrual products?
Reusable menstrual hygiene products like menstrual cups or washable pads cannot be safely used in Sudan right now because most women and girls do not have regular access to clean water and soap.

!الفوط الصحية للنساء والبنات في السودان
النزاع الحاليّ في السودان، والذي اندلع في الخامس عشر من إبريل قد حصد أرواح أكثر من أربعة آلاف من المدنيين، واتّسم كذلك بمعدلات عالية من العنف الجنسي، كما قد تسبب في شُح وارتفاع أسعار الفوط الصحية.
النساء والفتيات النازحات في الأحياء، المدن والولايات يجبرن عادة على المغادرة تحت وابل الرصاص وتهديدات العنف الجنسي، دون أن يتمكنّ من حمل الاحتياجات الأساسية التي تحفظ كرامتهنّ، ومن ضمنها الفوط الصحيّة. حيث أنّه في ظلّ هذه الظروف أصبح الحصول على المنتجات الصحيّة للنساء لا يُعد ضمن الأولويات.
أما في المناطق التي تتوفر فيها الفوط الصحية فإن التضخم الجامح وارتفاع الأسعار قد حدّ من قدرة النساء والبنات على الحصول عليها، خاصةً في ظل معاناة الأسر للحصول على الغذاء والمياه النظيفة. هذا النقص في الوصول إلى الفوط الصحيّة يجعل غالبية النساء والبنات عرضةً للإصابة بالالتهابات، والتي قد تصبح مُهددة لحياتهنّ ولصحتهن الإنجابية، نظرًا لصعوبة الوصول إلى مصادر المياه النظيفة والرعاية الصحيّة. كما تزداد الخطورة على النساء في مراكز الإيواء ومعسكرات النزوح.
تؤدي صعوبة الحصول على الفوط الصحية إلى عدم تمكّن النساء والبنات من مواصلة أنشطتهن اليومية حتى ولو كنّ قد نزحن إلى مناطقٍ آمنةٍ نسبيًاّ، بينما يستمر الضغط النفسيّ والجسديّ في التأثير على حالتهنّ النفسيّة وعافيتهنّ.
تعمل المبادرة الاستراتيجية لنساء القرن الإفريقيّ (SIHA) مع مبادرة (فوطة تسد الخانة) ومنظمة (سودرو) بحملةً لجمع التبرعات لشراء وتوزيع الفوط الصحية للنساء والبنات اللواتي في أشد الحاجة إليها في الظروف الراهنة.
بتوفير منتجات الدورة الشهريّة يمكننا التقليل من المخاطر التي تهدد صحّة النساء والبنات والمساعدة في تحسين واقع حياتهن اليومية.
كيف سيتم استخدام تبرّعك؟
-شراء الفوط الصحية وملابس داخلية وفقًا لاحتياج النساء والبنات في السودان
-توزيع تلك الاحتياجات بالتعاون مع فوطة تسد الخانة ومنظمة سودرو العاملة في العيادات المتنقلة والجمعيات القاعدية والمراكز الصحية التي تستهدف مراكز الإيواء والنساء والبنات المتأثرات بالحرب
-الحد الأدنى للتبرع ما يعادل 5 دولار أمريكي وهي التكلفة التقريبية للفوط الصحية لامرأة / بنت واحدة في الشهر.
-التبرعات العينية أيضًا مقبولة، بشرط التكرّم بالالتزام بتكاليف الترحيل إلى نقاط التوزيع التي يتم الاتفاق عليها.
لماذا منتجات الدورة الشهرية ذات الاستخدام الواحد تحديدًا؟
منتجات الدورة الشهرية القابلة لإعادة الاستخدام ليست آمنة للنساء في ظلّ الظروف الراهنة بينما يصعب الوصول للمياه النظيفة والصابون بانتظام.
